Truck drivers frequently are the victim of a bad reputation. They are commonly seen as being reckless individuals who gun down smaller cars with their vehicular behemoths. Their 80,000 pound vehicles cover millions of miles a year. They move large quantities of goods every day and are an integral part of commerce in the United States but are still seen as being dangerous. This is most likely due to the unsafe drivers of the past. Trucking companies, in recent years, have improved the safety of 18-wheelers in recent years but there are still an alarming number of accidents. In addition, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration estimates that 1 out of every 20 truck drivers, or 5%, will be involved in accident.

Drunk driving is not a laughing matter, and it is most definitely a serious issue - however, the situation may not be nearly as grim as some make it out to be.
All About The Writ Of Habeas Corpus
Categories: Legal and Law | June 24th, 2008 | by admin | no comments
Habeas Corpus is a legal action, otherwise known as a writ, in which a person can seek relief from the illegal imprisonment of himself, herself or another person. Also known as “the Great Writ,” Habeas Corpus has long been an important instrument for protecting an individual’s freedom against state action.
In the United States, the Constitution specifically outlines the writ of Habeas Corpus in the Suspension Clause of article one, section nine. It is stated that the “privilege of the writ of habeas corpus shall not be suspended, unless when in cases of rebellion or invasion of the public safety may require it.” Habeas corpus petitions are usually argued as ex parte cases, where a judge decides the matter, with or without all affected parties present before the court.

Understanding Premises Liability
Categories: Legal and Law | June 7th, 2008 | by admin | no comments
Premises liability is a branch of personal injury law dealing with injuries resulting from dangerous or hazardous conditions on a piece of property. At the core of premises liability litigation is the belief (justified by law) that a property owner, be it a private homeowner or commercial corporation, is in at least some ways responsible for what goes on within the boundaries of that property. In particular, the law recognizes that property owners have an obligation to ensure that their properties - and the structures on them - are safe for others.

The Importance Of The Lemon Law
Categories: Legal and Law | June 6th, 2008 | by admin | no comments
The lemon law is loved by everybody because it is a protection for all consumers who purchase vehicles whether new or used. Not everybody appreciates the law however, because it is until you are affected, that you realize the importance of the lemon law. Firstly, let me begin by defining what a lemon is. A lemon is a new, leased or a used vehicle that falls out of your expectation. This is because within a very short and unrealistic time, the car begins to develop functional problems that leave you stranded and even unsafe. The car may be repaired several times without any success. Such a vehicle is classified as a lemon which means that it has lost value and is no longer worthy of service.

Public records can be searched using many different means. Conventional places can be your school, library, judges, the local municipal offices, government agencies and even church. Apart from these public archives, which are free, most other services require payment. Needless to say that some civil servants have access to this information from their jobs. However, there are rules governing access to this public information and how they use this information for public records research.
